💛🌈Friday, September 15th, was Dot Day, based off of the book, The Dot, written by Peter H. Reynolds. Prek-8th grade students as well as staff helped to create this colorful reminder at the front of our school - to be brave and to try new things! Many thanks to our lovely art teachers, Mrs. Alderman and Mrs. Olson, for creating the vision for this beautiful reminder. ☺️

Miss Waide’s PreK class had a blast💥recently making Friendship Salad! ☺️The bowl was their ‘school,’ the yogurt was their ‘nice friends,’ the blueberries were their ‘kind words’ and the strawberries were their ‘best effort.’ 🤗 They decided not to add the rotten banana or ‘mean friends, mean words, and not trying’ to the salad. 😉🙌🏻

Congratulations to our recent Golden Ticket recipients! Keep up the great work! 🎫⭐️👏🏻🥳🙌🏻

We had some cute guests welcoming students and staff this morning! 🦌🧡

Morris Grade School Parents- At approximately 12:40 p.m., we received word that there was a strong gas smell in the kitchen area. Out of precaution, we evacuated the building and the Morris Fire Department did an investigation. They gave us the all-clear, and students have returned to their normal day. Our students and staff did an amazing job following instructions. We want to thank the Morris Fire Department for the quick and effective response.

We want to inform you that we are canceling school for Friday, Aug. 25th, due to the continued HVAC issues and condensation throughout the school building. We will not have an E-Learning day and will make up this day at the end of the school year.
Our primary focus is ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for everyone. This has been a difficult decision and one we hoped we didn’t have to make. Unfortunately, our HVAC system has had issues keeping up with the outside conditions over the past three days, and we aim to provide a more favorable environment for effective teaching and learning.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we put student and staff safety first in all of our decisions.

⚠️ATTENTION!⚠️ Due to mechanical issues with our HVAC system and condensation throughout the school building, Morris Elementary School District #54 will have an early release today, 8/24/23. 6th - 8th grade will release at 11:30 am and K - 5th grade will be at 12:15 pm. There will be no PM preschool today. We will provide transportation services for students that regularly ride the school bus. There will be no lunch for students.
If there are students that aren't able to be picked up from school or met at home for bus drop off, please contact Morris Grade School at (815)942-0056.
We understand this is a difficult situation for all parties, but our focus is student and staff safety. Thank you!
