The Morris Grade School Track and Field team had an extremely successful trip down to East Peoria to compete in the IESA 3A State Track and Field championships over the weekend!
We had two relay teams representing and here they are...
7th Grade Girls 4 x 100 Meter Relay consisting of Aniston Caputo, Cyncere Rucker, Cora Passerman, Brealyn Robinson and Makayla Needem finished with a time of 55.16 - GOOD FOR 10TH PLACE AND A NEW SCHOOL RECORD!
8th Grade Boys 4 x 100 Meter Relay consisting of Aiden Dean, Romero Zdanwic, Dominic Sallese, Kado Thanadabouth and Ryan Resar finished with a time of 48.04 - GOOD FOR 7TH PLACE!
For our individual running events, we came home with some hardware...
In the 7th Grade Girls 100 Meter, Aniston Caputo ran a time of 13.58 - GOOD FOR 14TH PLACE! She also competed in the 7th Grade Girls 200 Meter race and completed it with a time of 28.20 - GOOD FOR 17TH PLACE!
In the 8th Grade Boys 800 Meter race, Ryan Resar came in with a time of 2:09.63 beating the school record in which he set last year - GOOD FOR 6TH PLACE! He also ran an amazing 8th Grade Boys 1600 Meter race with a time of 4:50.92, also beating his own school record - GOOD FOR A 5TH PLACE MEDAL!!
The highlight of the weekend came during the throwing events for our two state champions!
In the 8th Grade Boys Shot Put, Malachi Congo threw a ridiculous distance of 50 ft. 9.5 in. which was right behind the state record of 51 ft. 1 in. to bring home a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the shot put event.
In the 7th Grade Girls Discus, Aniston Caputo threw an unbelievable distance of 94 ft. 1 in. shattering her own state record of 85 ft. 11 in. that she threw last year as a 6th grader. In only two years, she has set two state records and brought home two STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS in the discus throw.
We could not be prouder of all of our athletes that competed at every level this season. You represented Morris Grade School with so much pride!
Of course, this couldn't have been possible if it weren't for our amazing coaching staff that put in countless hours to work with these amazing student-athletes! A very deserving THANK YOU to Coach Brad Guilinger, Coach Marcy Hood, Coach Ben Lawrence and Coach Dawn Behrens. GREAT SEASON MORRIS GRADE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD!!
