On February 25, 2025, our school hosted a Preschool Family Reading Night, aligning with our annual Wild West themed book fair to promote early literacy. The evening began with a presentation and discussion on the importance of early literacy by Miss Zettek, Preschool for All Family Support Specialist. Young children who are read to on a regular basis have an advantage when learning to read for themselves. Reading together builds closeness and early literacy skills, which are the foundations for school success.

Next, families enjoyed an engaging read-aloud of two stories by Librarian, Mrs. Marnie Garcia. Pam Burton, Head of Programming at the Morris Public Library was also in attendance to speak to the Preschool Families. She shared information about the libraries' child and youth programs, upcoming events, and the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative. Families had the opportunity to sign up for library cards, fostering a connection to community resources. The event concluded with two fun crafts for the children: decorating a cowboy boot and creating a cactus scene by tearing construction paper. These activities not only entertained but also encouraged creativity and fine motor skills. Families had an opportunity to explore the book fair, reinforcing the joy of reading!
