Dear Morris Grade School Families,
The Morris Grade School staff and School Board have now incorporated E-Learning Days in lieu of emergency days as described by state statute 105 ILCS 5/10-20.56. The purpose of E-Learning is to continue student learning by using innovative methods to deliver and account for the learning. When the district announces they will use an E-Learning day, teachers will assign work for students to complete. The work can consist of lessons, activities, worksheets, hands on activities, or reading to be done electronically or with paper/pencil. The E-Learning Day will be counted as a day of student attendance so that a school day will not have to be made up at the end of the school year.
Prior to a school day being cancelled and an E-Learning Day being scheduled, parents/guardians will be notified via email, phone blast, and the school’s website. Additional details about the proposed E-Learning Day such as the method of communication of instructional materials, taking student attendance, and teacher availability for answering questions can be found in the attached E-Learning Day Plan.
Morris Grade School now plans to utilize e-learning days on a case-by-case basis beginning in 2020 for a term of three years as stated in 105 ILCS 5/10-20.56.
Please click on the "E-Learning" tab at the top of our website and in our app for more important information about our new E-Learning Days!
Sincerely,
Morris Grade School Administration
